What is a MONEY BOX Refund?
A MONEY BOX refund is a service where you visit a MONEY BOX currency exchange office to receive your remaining NAMANE Card Pay balance back as cash (foreign currency). It's very useful for those who don't want to waste the remaining balance on their card before departing Korea after their trip.
Refund Conditions and Notes
- For foreign visitors only (passport required)
- Refund available from a minimum of 3,000 KRW
- Only Pay balance is refundable (check Rail Plus separately for transit balance)
- Partial refunds are not available, and requests cannot be withdrawn once submitted
- The refund amount is determined by the MONEY BOX exchange rate on the day of refund
How to Get a MONEY BOX Refund (4 Steps)
STEP 1: Visit a MONEY BOX Branch
There are currently 3 branches where refunds are available:
- Myeongdong Main Branch: 52-1, Namdaemun-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
- Myeongdong Branch 2: 15, Myeongdong 9-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
- Seoul Station Branch: 401-2, Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
STEP 2: Apply for a Refund on the NAMANE App
Open the NAMANE app and apply for a refund. Make sure to apply on the same day you want the refund.
STEP 3: Scan the QR Code
Scan the QR code at the MONEY BOX branch using the NAMANE app.
STEP 4: Show the Final Screen to Staff
Show the final confirmation screen to the MONEY BOX staff to complete your refund! Make sure to also present your passport.

Refunds are available in over 16 currencies handled by MONEY BOX:
- Major currencies: US Dollar, Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, Euro, Hong Kong Dollar
